English Spring Semester Update

Dear parents and students,

I would like to take this time to provide you with a quick update on what we have completed last semester and what is ahead for the new spring semester.

Last semester, students read the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. After reading the play, students wrote an essay on the question, 'Who deserve the most blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet?' Overall, students provided great analysis of this question in their essays and we had some very interesting arguments. Afterwards, we underwent a unit on news reports. As a final assessment for this unit, students worked in groups to write and act in their own news reports.

To begin this semester, students are focused on speeches. We will analyze and break down some examples of great speeches over history to understand how to create an effective speech. Students will be given free choice of their speech topic and will be given class time to work on it. After we have finished our speech unit, we will be reading Lord of the Flies by William Golding.

Thank you for your time and attention. Please feel free to email me regarding any questions you may have.

Russian February Newsletter

Dear Parents,
In February, we started the lesson with interesting presentations about Russia. The students were curious and searched a lot of new and interesting information. During their presentations, they learned about the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. They learned about amazing Moscow, the capital of Russia. Also, they learned about famous Russian actors, singers and soccer players.
We also did a lot of work in pairs to introduce ourselves and practice the dialogues in Russian. We worked on interesting and fun word activities and played games to help us remember the new vocabulary.
Last week, we had a quiz and everybody did a great job.
In March, they are going to continue working on researches about Russia such as:
-       Russian Food
-       Russian Culture
-       Russian Music
-       Russian traditional clothes
Thank you and have a great day!

Physics Monthly Newsletter

Image result for Physics cartoons wavesDear Grade 9 students and parents,

We are fast approaching the end of the second term. I hope you are all fine.
Grade 9 students have completed the following IGCSE topics.
P4. Simple kinetic molecular model of matter
P5. Matter and thermal properties
P6. Transfer of thermal energy

These three topics somehow connected so we had them sequential.Students also worked on some experiments to improve their investigation skills. Investigating evaporation rate, Testing conductivity of metals and Heat absorption of colors are the experiments they completed last month. Students presented their lab reports to the class and evaluated each other. This helped them to realize the skills that they need to improve.

After that we started a new topic; P7. Waves.
This is a base topic which will support the following three units we will cover next term. They are learning about the basic properties of transverse and longitudinal waves.
This will be the last unit before the break.

Please be informed that Physics term test will be on March 16th

Counseling Update:
There will be a counseling seminar for the parents on March 18th. Please check your school email and sign up.
